Abstract
This study was conducted on 100 mothers who were selected from the rural hospitals in Shanwan and Zweir villages in El Menoufia governorate. The sample was divided into the experimental and control groups. To prevent contamination, mothers who delivered before the program implementation were selected in the control group. All mothers were primi para . The sample was was divided equally between Shanwan and Zweir villages in El Menoufia governorate. The aims of this study were to identify the knowledge and practices of mothers as related to infant care, and to develop. Implement, and evaluate a health education program to address the mothers’ learning needs. A pilot study was carried out to test the reliability of the tools and to determine the necessary modifications. A health education program was planned and implemented at the two rural hospitals. That program continued for five days for each of the fifty mothers.
