Abstract This chapter provided an overview of the use of IUD for contraception. Amajor health problem with IUD is the increased risk for post-insertion infection. Health care providers, specifically physicians and nurses, have a major role in decreasing the risk for post-insertion. Neuman’s theory of prevention as intervention provides the focus for the study, which examines the relationship between prevention practices of nurses and doctors and the client outcome of infection. |
