Abstract

Background. Etiology of hemodialysis (NO; induced hypotension and hypertension remains speculative. There is mounting evidence that nitric oxide (NO) and endothelln-1 JET-I) may play a vital.Jole in these hemodynamic changes. We examined the role of intradialytic changes of NO and ET-l in the pathogenesis of intradialytic hypotension and hypertension.Methods. The present study included 45 patients with end-stage renal •disease By on HD divided hemodynamically into three equal HD groups (group I: normotensive frifrodta ysfe, group : hypofensve introdiolysis, ond group : hypertensive introdioiysis). In addition to 15 normal healthy individuals included as a control group. Pulse and blood pressure were monitored before, during (every ’A on hour) and after HD session. Serum nitrate (Hi) as an Index of NO level, and ET-l were measured at the beginning, middle and end of HD.L-arginlne (i-Aftf and asymmetric dimethyl L-arginine (ADMA) were measured at the beginning and end of HD (NO modulators). NT, ET-l, ADMA, and L-Arg are measured in the control group for comparison.
