Abstract Effect Of Bay1uside® On Some Cultured Freshwater Fish (Oreochrtrnzrs mioticus) The present investigation was planned to investigate the toxic effects of Bayluscide® in various concentrations and for different periods of exposure on Oreochromis niloticus (0. niloticus): Clinical and pathological manifestations, alterations in blood cells, haemoglobin (Hb) content, phagocytic activity and some serum biochemical constituents, as well antibody response to antigenic stimulation were the parameters used for evaluation of the toxic effects. Moreover, 1.he ability of Bayluscide® to accumulate in fish tissues of toxicated fish and trial for depletion of accumulated residue by transfer into clean tap water were studied. The effect of exposure to sublethal dose of Bayluscide® for 6 months on fries of 0. niloticus was studied as well. The results achieved are summarized in the following points: 1. Median lethal dose (LC50) assessment of Bayluscide® in 0. niloticus was 0.3 mg/L, while the sublethal dose was 0.1 mg/L. 2. In acute toxic exposure to half of LC50 dose (0.15 mg/i) for 2 Weeks, nervous and respiratory manifestation as well as different degrees of cornea! opacity were observed. |
