Abstract

The present study was carried-out on cultured Monosex tilapia and O.niloticus naturally and experimentally infected with Proteus rettgeri to investigate the clinical signs and P.M. lesions and isolation and idetinfication of the causeative agent in addition to determination of the median lethal dose (LD50) of the most virulent isolte. Also studying the sensitivity of some antibiotics to aproteus rettgeri as well as histological changes. The clinical signs and P.M. lesions of naturally infected fish were erosion jaws with congestion, hemorrhage and inflammation with darkening of body colorand enlarged, congested spleen and kidney. Biochemically it was oxidase, ureas and indole negative, while, positive with glucose and maltose.
The isolates were highly sensitive to antibiotics especially, Neomycin, Pencillin and Erythromycin.
