Abstract

This study was done to establish the relation between reactive oxygen species and occurrence of different types of cataract.
The study was done on 160 cases suffering from lens opacity and attending the hospital for lens extraction surgery. Patients were classified according to clinical and opthalmological criteria into 5 groups:
Senile, complicated, congenital, developmental and traumatic cataract. A group of 22 healthy subjects of matched age and sex with no ophthalmologic or any other health complications were included to serve as controls.
