Abstract

Benha Electronics is one of the military group factories. it works in production of electronic systems either in military or civilian criteria. Colour television is one of these systems. This thesis explains how to update and improve the methodologies used in functional test and repair of color televisions under productions. The implementation of artificial intelligence techniques was the best solution. A designed model, for expert system is built. The expert system has the following features. -I. The system can diagnose ten of catastrophic group of faults, and he used as real-time type. \l has the capability to carry out function tests, and fault. Finding for the unit under test (colour television). During capture the knowledge and expertise. it sends messages to the end user explores the faulty items and actions must be done to clear .and repair. -2. The expert system can be used either in production mode (on-line) or maintenance mode (off-line). -3. The system is rule-based knowledge type. The knowledge base contains sufficient numbers of IF ..... THEN rules. The body of If is a data, if consistence, then the right to THEN will be action. 4. Using QBASIC language, through window 95/98, and PC (Pentium If) platform, the software shell of the expert system was proposed. It easier to implement and manage the system using this language rather than using LISP or PROLOG languages. 5. A test jig (fixture) in form of bed of nails was designed using CNC machines. This fixture will be in contact with the unit under test in such a way that makes the system’ enable to capture the voltage value of each test points. 6. A hardware interface was designed to link between the unit under test (UUT) and the system. This interface includes: • Potential dividers, • Multiplexes, • Programmable amplifier, • Analog to digital converter, and • Peripheral parallel interface pp1 8255. 7. To use the advantage of connectionism approach of constnlcling hybrid system, a neural network is connecting to the expert system.
