Abstract

Nowadays, increasing attention has focused investigating managers’ behavior and its influence on nurse’s job satisfaction and commitment to organizational goals. Effective leadership is the appropriate nurse manager’s behavior to the requirements of the situational demands. Effective management has a significant relationship to job satisfaction and commitment. Thus , when managers have created an environment of security and belonging, the satisfaction of nurses toward their job are maximized. This consequently fosters nurses’ commitment to their work. Such commitment is characterized by a number of desirable outcomes including a desire to maintain membership in the organization, a sense of belonging to organization, and expanding considerable energy to provide Effective high quality of care. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between manager’s behavior, job satisfaction and commitment among study subjects. This has been done through the following objectives ; to identify what staff nurses perceive to be the factors contributing to the job satisfaction and organizational commitment for them and to determine whether the use of certain leadership behaviors by managers made a difference in employees’ satisfaction and commitment to the organization
