Abstract
This research is concerned with development of the valuable and rich urban environment, which suffers from decline and from neglecting its heritage and economic value .
In spite of the wide increase of urbanization no sufficient care is paid to beep the existing built environment in good shape , there is still much to be done to our cities , as their inhabitants have abused them by making them serve purposes their structure was unfit for.
In an attempt to achieve the objective of this research, the structure of the thesis is formed to introduce the subject matter of the study, defining the aims , objectives and the conceptual plan of the study . Then it defines and evaluates the city and the urban environment supporting the interrelationships between both through function, appearance, culture, urban order, economic system , the future of the city and the values of the urban environment. More detailed the study goes forward towards the city center taking the same steps defining and evaluating the city center and the urban environment and the relation between both of them defining the impact , role , economy and management of the city center, clarifying the human needs from the center, and how it can be renewed and regenerated .
